My name is Sonia and I live in Northern Virginia in a suburb of Washington DC.
My love for knitting goes back many years.
I learned to knit while growing up in my native Brasil. Knitting was then a wonderful pastime to be shared with family and friends while relaxing and engaging in all kinds of interesting conversation. The time I spent knitting with family and friends was what I would call real "quality time".
I brought this love for knitting with me when I moved to America several years ago.
Some of the very best quality time I have ever had has involved doing knitting projects together with my children while enjoying invaluable moments of relaxation and frank conversation about many of the facts of life.
One day some time ago when I took a couple of my knitting samples to show at one of the local yarn stores I was asked if I would be interested in giving knitting lessons.
That day I discovered another wonderful side of knitting that I had not seen before and which I found gives me as much joy as knitting itself.
This other side is teaching the art of knitting. Few things are more enjoyable than watching beginners and more experienced knitters alike delighting as the yarn begins to paint figures and shapes that have only their imagination as limit.
